Island Connections – Chuck Roehm and Stephen Cline
April 10 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Vashon islander Chuck Roehm and Stephen Cline, long-time friends and music collaborators, will share the bill on April 10th for an evening of original songs. Highlights include the release of Chuck’s new album Onward and Upward and Stephen’s Hawaii inspired album, Na Ho’ailona.
Many island favorites guest-starred on Chuck’s new album, including Steve Amsden, Chris Anderson, Fletcher Andrews, Dan Brown, Randy Bruce, Paul Colwell, Kat Eggleston, Mark Graham, Tim Jovanovich, Dianne Krouse, Susan Lewis, David Salonen, Loren Sinner, Dan Tyack and Todd Zimberg. Stay tuned for an announcement of guest artists who will be joining Chuck and Stephen for this special concert. Chuck’s upbeat style of music has been described as “Cosmic Folk.” Chuck’s audiences enjoy his warm expressive voice, melodic tunes and image-rich lyrics. A fan at a recent concert described Chuck’s music as an “Invitation to Consciousness. “Onward and Upward, is a reminder to help recall our personal journey and ways we can move forward in our lives and upward in our consciousness and awareness.
Stephen’s album, Na Ho’ailona celebrates the simple and profound relationships we share with nature and each other. A retired English professor and widely published writer of fiction (he will be leading a writing workshop for Vashon Lit Con), Stephen is known for his sensitive and intelligent lyrics, as well as his fine work on guitar and piano, among other instruments. On his album, he plays guitar, cittern, lap steel, bass and piano. Responses to this collection of songs include praise like, “Your production is remarkable and your playing is so constantly mind-blowing! Your vocals grabbed my heart strings, because your lyrics are so evocative of your command of literature and lore.” Stephen’s other solo albums, as well as two with his group, Tiger Rising, can be found on sources such as AppleMusic and Spotify.
